Rolando ” Ro ” Antonio Blackman , born on February 26, 1959 in Panama City , was one of the first Latino players in the NBA and the first Panamanian league . With the Dallas Mavericks shone and today he continues to work for the franchise that launched him to fame.

Rolando was ” one of the greatest pitchers of all time and it was a very difficult player to mark” in the words of Magic Johnson, who faced multiple times. In total this legend completed four appearances in the All-Star Game: Indianapolis 1985, 1986 Dallas, Seattle and Miami 1987 – 1990.

With Dallas he was between 1982 and 1992 and is the leading scorer in franchise history with 16,643 points. In total ranks among the top 10 in 19 different statistical categories in the history of the Mavericks. It is the first field in scoring ( 6,487 ), attempts from the field ( 13,061 ), free throws made and attempted ( 3,501 / 4,166 ) and early starts ( 781 ). Has a mark of 50 regular season games as a rookie in games without committing a fault ( 865), free throws made ( 45) and highest percentage of effectiveness in free throws (898 in the 1991-92 season).

His career culminated in the NBA with the New York Knicks when he retired in the 1993-94 campaign. During his two seasons in the Big Apple he averaged 8.6 points as a substitute and even though the team reached the 1994 Finals was not in the plans of coach Pat Riley.

In the middle of the 1994-95 season he signed a contract with the Greek club AEK Athens and the next was with Stefanel Milano in Italy , where it reached Italian Championship and Italian Cup. In the final of the Italian Cup he scored 28 points, three rebounds, two assists and made 8 of 12 triples he attempted. Rolando is the father of four children and currently resides in Plano ( Texas).
