This great country was founded on the principles of freedom, and therefore men who have defended it are so valuable: veterans. Throughout the history of the United States, the wars have left more than 21.5 million veterans, of whom 1.2 million are Hispanic. There are many latinos who have sacrificed their lives for this country, and many who have returned from the wars.

The library of Congress is looking for Hispanic veterans C willing to tell their stories, in an effort to collect them and preserve them for posterity: “the idea is to collect, preserve, and provide access to the personal stories of Veterans of the United States,” said Tracy North, Librarian of the institution. This project is nourished by video or audio interviews, and written documents such as letters, diaries, photos, maps and any other means that allows to record the memories.

It is a great initiative that should be supported, it is essential to build the legacy of Hispanic immigrants in this area so decisive: the defense of freedom.
